IAESTE International Internships

IAESTE provides international professional opportunities for students in the technical fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Architecture). Participants complete internships at host institutions ranging from large multinational corporations to university research centers to startups. All IAESTE participants receive a stipend that generally covers at least the cost of living –housing, transportation and food – in their host city. Housing/accommodation assistance and other administrative services, such as assistance with the visa process, are provided by the local IAESTE organization in the respective host country. Additional in-country support is provided by a network of local student-volunteers, who organize cultural activities and assist with logistics.

IAESTE internship locations differ every year depending on company needs.  The list at the right lists a few of the locations from the past few years; this is not a complete list nor does it reflect the current placements.  Rather this list is a sample of past locations only.

Academic Description:
Internships are available with all types of host employers: small startups, medium-sized companies, multinational corporations, universities, research institutions, and non-profit or government organizations. Here are a few examples of companies in the past: Hitachi, Ltd., Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Volvo, Flanders’ Mechatronics Technology Centre, RWTH Aachen, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This list is by no means comprehensive, but should give you a good idea of the types of companies IAESTE United States works with. To request a more complete list of previous host companies, please contact IAESTE at iaeste@culturalvistas.org. Please note that there is no guarantee that these companies will be hosting IAESTE interns this upcoming year. Credit for internships is given at the discretion of the University of Pittsburgh. If you want to gain credit, you would need to pay Pitt for the credit hours during the summer. Speak with your faculty coordinator before beginning the internship to ensure all steps are taken for you to receive credit. Cultural Vistas is able to provide a letter certifying participation in the program, should the university request.
