Malik Talaat

I graduated from Pitt in December of 2022, earning my Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and a Value Methodology Associate Certificate. After graduation, I moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where I am working for Tata Consultancy Services under a contract for Eli Lilly and Company as a Serialization Systems Engineer. My position involves troubleshooting problems that arise in the serialization of medicines on the packaging lines at our Lilly Technology Center South Facility.
While at Pitt, I was fortunate enough to be a part of many great organizations, including the men’s lacrosse team, the Office of Experimental Learning and Professional Engagement, being a seminar leader for the IE program, and the co-op program. The one experience that has really stuck with me now that I have been removed from college for some time was venturing to Munich, Germany as part of the Engineering the German Way. The professors and students I worked with had a very profound impact on me, and I wanted to find a way to pay forward what I learned from them.
When the opportunity presented itself to join SAYAC, I felt I had to take advantage. Being capable of working with people of different backgrounds in a professional environment is becoming a necessity in today’s world; over half of the people I interact with at Lilly on a daily basis aren’t originally from the United States. It’s a message I want to impart on current Pitt students, and I’m thankful to have that chance. I will be serving as the recruitment co-chair and am eager to help our organization grow. I can’t wait to meet and learn from you all.
